World Arts has announced plans to expand facilities located in Spencer. According to company officials, this will be the third building expansion since John T. Gillaspy acquired the business in 1993.

The expansion plan includes construction of additional production space at the 156 E. Franklin St. facility, as well as renovation of the building located at 16 S. Washington St., currently occupied by Presto Printing. Construction at the Franklin Street location is scheduled for later this fall. Closure of the Presto Printing office is scheduled for July 31 of this year.

According to World Arts General Manager Matt Leach, “Our goal will always be to provide the best possible service to our customers. Continued sales growth and a desire to keep customer pricing down, requires us to continually look at our efficiency. Consolidating our order taking under one roof will have a positive impact on the time needed to put jobs into production.”

“We are very excited about the future of World Arts,” said Leach. “Spencer is an excellent location for us. We plan to grow in place through expansion and repurposing of our current space.” The decision to close the storefront was difficult and not taken lightly. Leach stated that the company plans to absorb many of the services offered by Presto Printing. He said, “We feel it is important for Presto customers to have the same great service they received from Presto. With the implementation of an express workflow, we’re calling X-press, as well as by retaining the same customer service person, we will offer customers the same quick response times they received from Presto.”

Some services currently available at Presto printing, such as photocopying and faxing, will not be offered. These services are available to the public at the Owen County Public Library.
