Rosenbarger couldn’t give an exact occupancy count for the Sullivan Lofts, but did say, “I do know that there’s a lot of interest and they’re sure to fill up pretty quickly.
“It’s exciting to get to this point,” he added. “It’s always wonderful to see the finished product after you’ve put so much work into it. There’s always ups and downs along the way. But cities like these are what make it worth it.”
Construction began in earnest on the project in December 2017.
The Sullivan Lofts (19 W. Jackson St.) and Old City Hall Lofts (102 E. Washington St.) were remodels of older structures. The 10 duplexes — located at 105 S. Broad St., 433 Elinor St., 739 E. Harris St., 803 N. Court St., 301 E. Washington St., 460 S. Star Ave., 716 N. Main St., 733 E. Jackson St., 322 W. Graysville St. and 716 E. Beech St. — are new buildings.
If you recall, the Sullivan City Council approved a final resolution on this project establishing an economic redevelopment area and authorized real property tax deductions in October 2017.
A property tax abatement was also approved in the council’s resolution, to be graduated over six years. Eighty percent of the properties are required to have one person age 55-and-over in the household.
Flaherty & Collins is operating the units and are presently accepting applications and leasing the 1- and 2-bedroom senior apartment homes.
